Kingem Records – The Land of The Pop

What’s so special about Christmas songs? Is this kind of silly and very short term vogue goin’ to hold his own place and stand out as a real music genre or is this to be included in the list of silly stuff you’re forced to do in a failing attempt of being cool? As for Christmas 2011 and Tiny Tide seemed a lot like the perfect excuse to challenge its own imagination, since the Italian pop band released a little EP following the old route of Dickens and his Christmas ghost stories.

Not only the EP is ironically called “A Christmas Without Carol”, yet holds three songs called “Vintage Angel (Song of Chirstmas Past)”, “Christmas Lima Bean (Song of Alternative Christmas Present)” and “Noel On The Moon (Song of Christmas Future)”. This new release also include a bonus track called “Cheap Crhistmas”, just recorded for the notorious Italian indie blog “Polaroid”.

Seems really strange to announce the release of an album… BEFORE the new album that was actually expected. But here we go: Tiny Tide‘s “Plato’s Summer Diary” – recorded in three weeks during Summer 2001 – is a quick collection of lo-fi songs inspired by live shows, tv-series and so many other inputs that hit Mark Zonda along his way back from the beach. And so – just quoting a famous band from Sweden – it happened that  two bands from KinGem Records managed to play together on a miracle troubled day being kindly host by Diagonal Loft Club in Forlì. Stars in Coma and Tiny Tide shared the stage on a lovely Easter afternoon on a coloured indie party with the collaboration of AirPop DJSet. My thanks goes to Andrè, Håkan, Mattias, Nicole, Davide, Robbie and Bando, and all the other dudes that made this possible. Here’s some videos from that lovely night.

Hi there dear kingdom! So much things are happening here that we barely manage to keep you update on what’s goin’ on!

Here’s a little list anyway:

• Cue Fanfare (Bristol) has released our release #4. It’s a brilliant EP called “Ghost Ship”. You may found further information and buy it HERE.
• Tomorrow I’ll do a little feat. on a friend radio in London (Insanity Radio) on a show called Protozoa and it’s scary special (Thank you Liz!!!). We’ll be proud to present a little rushed Halloween Tiny Tide song. (They say it’s Cure meeting Gorillaz… but it’s just a noisy lo-fi arena anthem to me…)
• Free Europe Liberation Tour#9 has been launched! Stars in Coma will play with Tiny Tide in Italy on Easter. The bands will also play in 1st of May in Cambrige with friends Charlie Big Time for Sleeping Today nights! They’re lookin’ for some other dates. Please  contact us at king@kingemrecords.com.
