2011 Tiny Christmas EP

What’s so special about Christmas songs? Is this kind of silly and very short term vogue goin’ to hold his own place and stand out as a real music genre or is this to be included in the list of silly stuff you’re forced to do in a failing attempt of being cool? As for Christmas 2011 and Tiny Tide seemed a lot like the perfect excuse to challenge its own imagination, since the Italian pop band released a little EP following the old route of Dickens and his Christmas ghost stories.

Not only the EP is ironically called “A Christmas Without Carol”, yet holds three songs called “Vintage Angel (Song of Chirstmas Past)”, “Christmas Lima Bean (Song of Alternative Christmas Present)” and “Noel On The Moon (Song of Christmas Future)”. This new release also include a bonus track called “Cheap Crhistmas”, just recorded for the notorious Italian indie blog “Polaroid”.

A Protest

Tiny Tide are back with a new EP called “A Protest”. This work collects a couple of songs originally meant to released by a Swedish label (thing that never happened) with some other ballads and a protest song written and recorded in just two weeks to fit the photography session made by the young talent Francesca Nik Adamo. The EP is featuring Paolo Pugliese from the Italian band Les Fauves and a cameo by Jon Hardy from The Pristines. You can have more details and buy the album here.

Annemarie

It’s not without feeling a little bit guilt for not having found the time to give this little update the importance it deserved, that I’m pretty proud to announce and introduce you to one of the most exciting indie projects of the year: the indie lo-fi twee theme ep “Fall to Fall”. What if a chanteuse from Indonesia would met a singer from Italy and they started to collaborate to a couple of song? Penny drops! After an interview on SleepWalKing Magazine (R.I.P.) and a collaboration on Tiny Tide album “There’s A Girl That Never Goes Out”, Mark and Rima had so much fun that decided to join each other’s bands from Italy and Indonesia working on an EP about the passing of seasons. “Fall to Fall” was born!

The album also features Porlock on the beatles-que “Tea Time Intermission”while the track “Vacaciones de Invierno” is inspired by a collection of poems by Carolina Quiñonez Salpietro, from Lima. (everything falls into place, considering that Annemarie first release was from Plastilina Records, from the same city). There’s a Girl…

Despite how much confusing it may seems, Tiny Tide REAL new album is out! What make it even harder to believe is that this collection of “impossible love songs” is called “There’s A Girl That Never Goes Out”, just to make clear that we’re in love with indie pop and we really wanted this album to be an epic explosion of lo-fi modern dittos. Songs were written and recorded winter 2010/2011, vocals and mixing made on different sessions on “Faith&Fame Studio” between March and June. Album cover and art was made by Nicola Guerra and Jonathan Lee Hart, Simona Rovida and Rimauli Dindani from Annermarie appears on some tracks as guests. More information here.

Plato’s Summer Stars

Seems really strange to announce the release of an album… BEFORE the new album that was actually expected. But here we go: Tiny Tide‘s “Plato’s Summer Diary” – recorded in three weeks during Summer 2001 – is a quick collection of lo-fi songs inspired by live shows, tv-series and so many other inputs that hit Mark Zonda along his way back from the beach. Come Along Pond

September 5 Tiny Tide will release a new album under KinGem Rercords called “There’s A Girl That Never Goes Out”. It will deal (as Rimauli Dindani from Annemarie defined it) with “Impossible Love Songs”. Here’s the video from the single “Come Along Pond”, dedicated to Amy Pond and all Doctor Who (and shoegaze) fans. Jonathan Lee Hard from Leed is strumming the guitars. Hope you like it.

Love Won’t Be Leaving

And so – just quoting a famous band from Sweden – it happened that two bands from KinGem Records managed to play together on a miracle troubled day being kindly host by Diagonal Loft Club in Forlì. Stars in Coma and Tiny Tide shared the stage on a lovely Easter afternoon on a coloured indie party with the collaboration of AirPop DJSet. My thanks goes to Andrè, Håkan, Mattias, Nicole, Davide, Robbie and Bando, and all the other dudes that made this possible. Here’s some videos from that lovely night.

New Stars in Coma Release

It’s really a pleasure to share this new KinGem Release. A Stars in Coma new album is not only an excuse to rejoice and discover the new musical gems of Andrè Brorson, it’s also a chance to directly experience his artistic growth and improvement as songwriter, producer and musician.

“Midnight Puzzle” – the new album - it’s an evolution towards a 3 minute-indie-prog-pop and a visionary and committed songwriting attitude, blending thoughts on today’s messy stories with André’s inner world, turning this new work in Stars in Coma’s own Sgt. Pepper.

The brilliantly produced “Magic Season” is pure classic with some unconscious bits of Shibuya-Kei, and I’m sure that also Cornelius and Pizzicato 5 will love it, just like the YMO-sque “Tuck Dales”. The song “Midnight Puzzle” is an classic nighttime ballad with piano chords reminiscing of America and Todd Rungren, while Scritti Politti and Style Council would have killed to have had “Paint My Picture On The Thick Shell” on one of their albums.

Either if your a long time “Stars in Coma” fan or you’re just looking for a new nice listening to fall in love with, “Midnight Puzzle” is the sweetest excuse to close your eyes and dream the perfect soundtrack of your springtime nights.
